Pip’s Original Donuts Exploring Portland OR

November 10, 2015

Welcome back! Today I will be sharing a special treat on my Coffee Shop Series. Donuts! Now who doesn’t love donuts?! I grew up on Safeway and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, so a specialty doughnut shop was something else! Now there’s really three doughnut shops that are hyped up in Portland, Oregon. There are a few others but they’re not really on the tourist map…

There’s Voodoo, Blue Star, and Pip’s Original.

Personally I ONLY like the maple bar with bacon at Voodoo, and Blue Star is your high end fancy shop for pricey “gourmet” doughnuts. Pip’s as one of my co-workers described them are “novelty” doughnuts.

Pip’s is a little bit of a drive for me because I live further down south, so I’ve probably only been there four times since I’ve discovered them. As far as I know, they only have one location. The first time I was there it felt a little crowded, they offer chai, fried-to-order mini-donuts and have a full espresso bar. The prices are very reasonable in fact I’d even call them “affordable” . You can choose from 4 donuts for $2.95 to a dozen donuts for $5.95. If you’re hungry like I was, you can eat all twelve in one sitting. Especially when they’re warm and fresh. Pip’s is located on 4759 NE Fremont St, Portland, OR 97213 and open 8am-4pm Monday – Sunday.

About 4 months ago they’ve done some renovations and expanded their shop to twice it’s size!! They have “2 rooms” one where you order and another where you can drink coffee, eat pips and study or chat with friends! They do have a restroom as well and street parking.

My all time favorite Pips are the “Candied Maple & Bacon” but I love them all! Go check out Pip’s Original Donuts and let me know what you think!! 🙂
